FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Below are some frequently asked questions, if the question you are looking for is not here, send us an email and we will come back to you as soon as possible. There is also more information to be found at ellepot.com

Yes, all of the Ellepot papers have excellent root permeability allowing for the roots to grow through with their natural root architecture intact. There is an exception with the U1 membrane, which has perforation in the membrane to allow for root growth and air exchange.

There are over 20 different papers and membranes available, in the full range of Ellepot papers, ranging from 6 weeks to 12 months plus, including certified organic, and PLA Membranes. Each paper comes with its own degradation guideline, this is just a guideline and site specific testing is recommended to fine tune this to your application. Irrigation strategy, media composition, bio-actives in the media and humidity all have an impact on the paper degradation time. Ellepot papers have a range of certifications which can be found here.

Common ingredients in Ellepot blends include a range of medias including a combination or selection of Coco Coir, Coco Pith, Peat, Perlite, CAN Fines and Pine Bark. We also add many other amendments like pH adjustment compounds and stabilisers, wetting agents, starter and slow release fertilisers. We are also able to add other amendments such as bio-actives, herbicides or insecticides, if required. We work with a number of different mix suppliers to be able to offer a range of options here.

There are a couple of differences between Ellepots and Ellebags. The main difference is that the Ellebags have sealed bases due to the way they are manufactured, this allows for smarter sorting and ensuring no media is lost out the bottom if moved/graded before full root consolidation. Ellebags also allow for any media type to be used. We are able to offer Ellebags in diameter greater than 50mm or 200cc.

You sure can, head on over to www.advancedhort.co.nz to find out more about purchasing your very own Ellepot machine, or get in touch with us to work out your requirements. We will be able to point you in the right direction and support you through the process.

We understand that you may want to trial your own media for the purposes of a side by side trial or production. Talk to us today how we are able to make this a reality. We can also supply empty premade Ellebags that you can purchase to fill as you need for sizes greater than 50mm in diameter.

Definitely! We now have 3 papers available for Organic production, these are out Ellepot Organic 2.0 6-8 week paper, Ellepot 10 week and Ellepot 16 week paper. You can find these under the paper options here

To allow you to try Ellepots in your own Nursery, we are able to offer you a sample tray based on our recommendation, (see our process – 7 steps to propagation success). We just ask that you cover the cost of freight and weekly updates on how its all going.

Yes, absolutely! Due to the tray design, Ellepots require uniform water application to make sure that they all receive the same amount of water each. If you would like to know if your irrigation is up to the task, this is something that we are able to advise on. Just flick us an email or call with your questions.
